  • What is the difference between a Jumbo and a Standard bed?

The side logs on standard beds are roughly 5-6" in diameter and the headboad measures 52" tall. The logs on jumbo beds measure 6-7" in diameter and the headboards are 60" in height. This allows individuals to pick the size of bed that most fits their tastes.

  • What does the box spring and mattress sit on?

There are 3 available foundations (in order of popularity):

1) The standard metal frame.

2) Underdrawers.

3) Bed Slats.

  • Why aren't slats part of a standard bed?

There are 3 main reasons why we do not include slats:

  1. By not offering slats as a standard we reduce the price of all of our beds by about $50.
  2. Along with reason #1, we have found that often times customers already have a metal frame to fit their desired bed size. By not including slats or a frame into the price, we are able to provide our beds at the best available price.
  3. The majority of our beds are sold for use with a metal frame or underdrawers. Since everyone has their own preferences, we leave that decision to each individual. The price of slats are found on the individual bed size pages.
  • What are the pros and cons of slats?

PROS: For those who like a mattress that sits high the underdrawers are an excellent option; however, slats provide a more economical alternative. Another benefit is the area under the bed can be utilized for storage if desired.

CONS: If skirting is desired to cover the area under the bed, slits in the material are required in order for it to pass over the slats. With a metal frame, any comforter or quilt will achieve a nice clean look. Slats also require additional labor in regards to setting up the bed.

  • What is the difference between Flat-panel and Half-log?
Flat-panel and Half-log refers to the drawer front and door style of each product consisting of these components. Flat-panel drawers and doors are just that - flat surfaced finish work. On the other hand, Half-log drawer fronts are three small logs laminated together and shaped to form one drawer front. Half-log doors are flat-paneling wrapped in log trim. The Half-log option is very popular among those who prefer a darker, more rustic look.
  • What type of drawer slides are used for the drawers?
Our drawer slides are sturdy, full-extending ball-bearing drawer slides (chrome) with "stop and catch" features. These ensure children cannot pull the drawers out and they will "catch" to stay shut.
